"A week apparently, God dammit, we should have kept a closer eye on her. Who knows where he's taken her." The officer sighed, his face pressed into his palm while holding the phone up to his ear. His small workspace was crowded, stacks of paperwork were thrown haphazardly across the desk. The monitor was asleep, and a cup of cold coffee looked like it had spilled onto the desk, and coffee stained papers proved the spill to have happened.

"Yeah, I know, her mother has been put under watch, we don't want anything to happen to her. I feel awful enough that the college kid was abducted." He dragged his palm down his face, revealing a pair of tired brown eyes an unkempt hair. His ID read Parkman. A phone rang, two, three times. He put his hand over the receiver, and shouted,

"Somebody get that!" He uncovered the receiver and spoke again.

"No sir, we had been trying to figure out where he operates from this entire time, but just yesterday morning, we received a call from an Italian restaura-"

He was cut off, and quiet for a second.

"Yes, I know, it sounds funny, but no, I'm dead serious. Apparently one of the renters upstairs had fit the description of the abductee, and had often threatened him at sword point. He hadn't called us because he feared for his life, but he called us yesterday because the renter had been gone for longer than usual. It seems that the abductee has left his apartment, and now we have an address."

He went quiet again, and a heater started clacking into business.

"I'll keep you informed of any new developments. Merry Christmas to you too sir."

He hung up the phone.

•••••••••••••

After three days of driving, the scenery had drastically changed, you were clearly in the Midwest, the flat sparse land and frigid air were dead giveaways for this time of year, but there was still no snow out here. That had surprised you, this late in December? You would have bet on snow.

The trip had been pretty quiet, not much conversation has passed. Occasionally, your driver would turn on some Christmas music and belt out the songs both off key and with the wrong lyrics. But otherwise, it was silent and awkward. You would stop at motels for the night, clean up, get rest and food, and leave.

It was dark now, and you hadn't seen an exit in a couple hours. You would have suggested you take the wheel, but you were just as tired, and you didn't know where you were going.

"I gotta go pee." He spoke, his loud voice snapping you out of your stupor. It had been so quiet too.

"How? We just stopped an hour ago on the side of the road. Besides, this is a shady place to stop. How are you going to see anything? There are too many clouds."

"I just gotta go pee. Don't be cruel."

"It's cold."

"So now you're arguing it's cold? You're not the one going pee outside." He shot back, annoyance evident in his voice.

"Yeah but you'll open the door, and cold air will get in."

"I'm pulling over. I gotta go."

He promptly pulled the car over, and you rolled your {e/c} eyes. He opened the door, and the lights came on. Cold air rushed in, and you gave a huff of disagreement.

"Don't peek babe. Unless you wanna." His smirk showed through the mask, and you laughed.

"Ew, no. Hurry up, I'm cold."

He walked away from the car, and you heard him peeing.

"Oh my god no." You covered your ears. "Are you kidding me?" You hissed under your breath. He slid back into the drivers seat a few seconds later, and slammed the door shut.

"And here we go babe." He started the ignition, and the car rumbled to life, and then quickly burnt out. A nervous laugh left your lips.

"No, no, no. I was a teensy weensy eensy bit concerned that this shit would happen."

"What do you mean? Did we run out of gas?"

"Naw, I've had problems with this car before." He attempted to restart the car again unsuccessfully.

You opened the door, hopping out of the car and taking a couple deep breaths. He tried again, and again. A snowflake hit your hand, a hot and cold sensation coursing through you as it melted. Snow. Just what you needed right now. The car suddenly rumbled to life, and you hopped in.

"Is it gonna be ok?"

"Yup. Thanks to my ultra manly skills of automobiles, our lives are saved."

"Good, let's go." You grinned, buckling your seatbelt and slamming the door shut.

"Apparently there's an exit an hour up. We should be good until we get there. We'll find a hotel, gas, and food too." He gunned it, not hesitating for a second to get out of there.

The hour passed by too slowly, and suddenly, Deadpool was rousing you from your sleep.

"{name} get up get up get up!"

You groggily opened your eyes.

"I've been awake this whole time..."

"Pffft... You fell asleep as soon as I told you it'd be an hour. Come on, get out of the car." He incessantly pulled on your arm.

"Are we at the hotel?"

"No! It's snowing! There's snow everywhere, we have to pull over for the night. It's starting to pile up, I don't want to die from poor driving conditions!" He replied, sounding giddy as a little kid. You started waking up and looking around. The car was okay, the heater was on, as were the headlights, which illuminated every falling snowflake with a golden glow.

He got out of the car and scraped some snow off of the ground, making a snow ball. Your eyes widened, and a laugh escaped your lips. You quickly hopped out of the car, scooping snow into your bare hands and desperately trying to make a formidable snowball. A snowball hit you smack in the ribs, and you laughed, throwing the snowball at Deadpool, he dodged easily.

You made another snowball, and looked up, but he wasn't there. Panic spread through you, and then a snowball hit you in the head. You spun around, whirling the snowball at his face, satisfaction coursing through you as it exploded. You laughed, clutching your ribs with frozen hands. Another snowball smacked your shoulder, and your laughing stopped as you shot a dark glare at him. Deadpool's laughter rang out, and he was in hysterics. You joined in slowly, forgetting your current problems.

"God my hands are cold." You muttered, realizing the snow was melting into your clothes, which were not very waterproof at all. You both got into the car again, and Deadpool handed you a towel to wipe them off in.

"Thanks."

"Don't sweat it babe." His voice was light. You were still cold though, as the snow had soaked through your clothes and into your skin.

"Do you have a blanket?" Your voice was a low, annoyed whisper.

"Yeah." He handed you a quilt, and you glared at him.

"Don't f^(king look." You covered yourself and started peeling the icy clothing off and throwing it into the backseat, leaving only your underwear on.

"You done?"

"Yeah. Leave me alone." Your voice was cold, sudden scared and conflicted feelings rushing over you. You weren't allowed to like this man. It wasn't love, oh no no. Just a feeling of happiness caused by his fun. It was scary. You wrapped yourself in the quilt and reclined the seat all the way back to imitate a bed of sorts.

"Why? We were having fun! You were happy! I really think we were having a nice heartfelt movie moment of connecting!"

"No we weren't. Let me sleep." You forced your eyes closed, trying to forget any emotions that you had fostered for that brief moment of weakness.
